NXTGEN Racing Mazda MX5 Cup Round 1 Preview: Monza

ree

Round One of the NXTGEN Racing Mazda MX5 Cup kicks off tonight (Tuesday 28th October) at the world-famous "Temple of Speed". These cars are anything but fast, however, the bump-drafting and pack-racing that is to be found will blow off your wigs regardless.

Following an action-packed pre-season test last week at Thruxton, and a thrilling test race last night, a packed grid of drivers are raring to go for the winter.

The Monza circuit - tonight, without the first chicane - runs at 3.5 miles, with 9 turns (two to the left, and 7 to the right). Without the first chicane slowing drivers down, the pack racing through Curva Grande and towards Variante della Roggia will leave you on the edge of your seat all night long.

With three races, featuring a partial-reverse and full-reverse grid will invite an evening of close combat and competitive action. With a circuit like this, anyone could find their way to the front and take the win.

With two classes heading out onto the field, they aren't going to be separated by much on a circuit like this. Believe me - as during the test races yesterday - this poor-performing commentator managed to find his way towards the front of the field, almost winning against the drivers racing tonight. If that doesn't tell you that "anyone can win it", I don't know what will.

So how are each of our drivers going to find these Mazda MX5 machines - cars that a lot of them have not been in for a very long time. There's only one way to find out. Join us for tonight's broadcast and let's get this season started!
