NXTGEN Racing Mazda MX5 Cup Round 3 Preview: Zandvoort

ree

Round Three of the NXTGEN Racing Mazda MX5 Cup takes us across the English Channel and onto the Dutch coastline, as we take on the roller-coaster of a circuit that is Zandvoort tonight (Tuesday 11th November). With no chance of rain, and a circuit that has more corners than we have seen so far this season, drivers are going to need to step up their game for this one.

With just one safety-car outing last week at Brands Hatch, we saw a great battle across the field on the short circuit. Rain created havoc as the evening went on, and drivers struggled with the challenging conditions.

Adam Delmont is the only driver to take multiple Pro/Overall victories this season in the first race of the day at both Monza and Brands Hatch. Will it be a three-peat at Zandvoort? Twardoch has three victories to his name in the Pro-Am class and will find himself in the Pro division moving forward.

Running a length of 2.64 miles through North Holland, the 14 turned lap (10 to the right and 4 to the left) is an undulating run of tarmac across the dunes. With rises and falls throughout the lap, the Zandvoort circuit is going to be the trickiest task our drivers have faced this season.

With three races, featuring a partial-reverse and full-reverse grid, all of the drivers will be invited to fight for towards the front, as usual. However, a small mistake here can send you hurtling into the barriers or across the sand. So, drivers will need to pick their moments to make their moves.

Adam Delmont has an 8 point advantage over Kieran Sharp in the championship standings for the Pro division, with Isaac Doble hovering a further 8 points back. With Twardoch promoted to the Pro division, along with fellow Pro-Am winner Sam Spinnael, Alain McKane holds the top of the Pro-Am leaderboard right now with Carl Thompson and Nigel Stock tied with 73 points apiece in P2.

Who is going to find their way to the front in the third week of competition? There's only one way to find out. Join us for tonight's broadcast and let's get this season started!
