NXTGEN Racing Mazda MX5 Cup Round 2 Preview: Brands Hatch

Round Two of the NXTGEN Racing Mazda MX5 Cup takes us across to Brands Hatch tonight (Tuesday 4th October), to a former home of the Formula 1 British Grand Prix. Running the Indy loop tonight means the full field of drivers will never be more than a few metres from another MX5 throughout the duration of the three races.

Last weeks race saw bump-drafting lead to various incidents, leaving us without a safety-car free race at Monza. However, the slower circuit, focused more on cornering than straight line speed is going to be a big change from the experiences of the first round.

At a length of 1.2 miles, and just 7 turns (two to the left, and five to the right), this track will take less than a minute to circulate each time. The down-hill turn 1 of Paddock Hill Bend is well-known within racing, with Druids being a great location for overtaking - if you can get it right.

With three races, featuring a partial-reverse and full-reverse grid, the races tonight will invite any driver willing to get to the front a chance for the win. But a small mistake can take you out of the running just as easily.

Kieran Sharp will be trying to take some more points at the top of the field, with Adam Delmont, Mikey Doble and Adam Wilson-Weir to make up a few points that have behind in the Pro class. In the Pro-Am's and it is Craig Twardoch leading that will a healthy 9 point advatnage over Phil McDougall and Lewis Mason.
